As you may know commercial detergents and laundry soaps have chemicals such as sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) that can be toxic to your skin.  

These toxic chemicals get deposited into the fibers of your clothing, towels, and bedding as a residue where they can be absorbed by your skin later on as you wear the clothing, dry your skin, or sleep.
